Worked example

Plate ending 34, Car or other vehicle, checked on 20 April 2026: registration month April. Working days 1 to 7 are 1 April 2026 to 14 April 2026. The vehicle is 6 days late within the same month, so the penalty is ₱ 200.00. Next renewal: 1 April 2027 to 9 April 2027.

How it works

The last digit of the plate sets the month and the second-to-last digit sets a block of working days in that month. Working days are Monday to Friday, without regular holidays and special non-working days. You may register up to 1 month early. If you renew in your month but after your week, the fine is ₱ 100 for motorcycles or ₱ 200 for other vehicles. After your month, up to 12 months, the penalty is 50% of the MVUC, so enter the MVUC shown in LTMS or on your last receipt. The fine amounts come from the LTO schedule published in 2017; LTO may have updated them, so check the amount in LTMS or with the LTO before you pay. Registration fees, MVUC, insurance and the emission test are not included.

Last digit 4 gives month April. Second-to-last digit 3 gives working days 1 to 7 of that month (19 working days): 1 April 2026 to 14 April 2026. Late within the month: ₱ 100 (motorcycle) or ₱ 200 (other vehicles). Later, up to 12 months: 50% of the MVUC.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know my LTO registration month?

It comes from the last digit of your plate number. For example, a plate ending in 4 registers in April. The calculator shows the month for any digit.

How do I know my registration week?

It comes from the second-to-last digit of your plate. Each digit has a block of working days in the month: digit 3 is working days 1 to 7. The table under the tool lists all ten digits.

Can I renew my registration early?

Yes. You may register up to 1 month before your registration month.

What is the penalty for late LTO registration?

If you renew in your month but after your week, the fine is ₱ 100 for a motorcycle or ₱ 200 for other vehicles. After your month, up to 12 months late, the penalty is 50% of the MVUC. These amounts come from the LTO schedule published in 2017; LTO may have updated them.

What if I am more than 12 months late?

According to the LTO schedule published in 2017, the penalty is still 50% of the MVUC, plus the renewal. If you were apprehended, LTO also charges renewal for each year you were delinquent. An older LTO circular (2001) treats apprehended vehicles differently, so the amount you pay is the one shown in LTMS or by the LTO cashier.

Which days count as working days?

Monday to Friday, without regular holidays and special non-working days. If the holidays of a year are not announced yet, only weekends are skipped, and the calculator says so.
